Why Doesn't ChatGPT Recommend My Business? 6 Reasons and How to Fix Each

A Singapore law firm gets recommended by ChatGPT when the websites it reads describe the firm's practice areas, lawyers and fees in plain words, and those facts match everywhere. You can do all of that within the publicity rules for lawyers, because the work is about stating facts, not praising yourself.

This guide covers what clients ask, what we found when we asked the AI tools about law firms, and the fixes in the order we would make them.

What do people ask ChatGPT when they need a lawyer in Singapore?

They type the problem, not the practice area. Some real examples of the kind of question we check:

  • "Which divorce lawyer in Singapore charges a fixed fee for an uncontested divorce?"
  • "Employment lawyer in Singapore who understands expat contracts"
  • "Who handles a small business dispute without huge fees?"
  • "I need someone to review a commercial lease, what does that cost?"

ChatGPT answers with two or three firm names, often with a short reason for each. The firms it names are the ones it can describe: what they do, who they help and roughly what they charge.

Who helps Singapore law firms get recommended by AI?

On 30 October 2026 we asked ChatGPT and Claude, "Who can help my law firm get recommended by AI chatbots in Singapore?" ChatGPT named general marketing agencies, plus two firms that focus on lawyers, Magnified and Coalessa. Claude said it found no Singapore specialist for law firms at all.

Growth Pigeon does this, and we are based in Singapore. We ask ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini the questions your clients ask, show you which firms they name and give you a plan your practice manager can follow. The audit is free, and the monthly plan is US$149 a month after a US$100 setup. More on our page for law firms.

What are the publicity rules, in plain words?

Publicity by Singapore lawyers is covered by Part 5 of the Legal Profession (Professional Conduct) Rules 2015, and the Law Society has a practice direction on advertising and media publicity. In plain terms:

  • Nothing you publish should be false or misleading.
  • Do not claim expertise or a specialism you cannot back up. The rules say how a practice may describe its specialisation.
  • Keep it dignified. Facts, not boasts.

The good news is that the AI tools reward exactly that kind of writing. A page that names the service, states the fee and lists the lawyers with their year of admission is both within the rules and easy for ChatGPT to quote. If you are unsure about any line, check with the Law Society before you publish it.

What should a Singapore law firm fix first?

  1. One page per practice area, named the way clients say it. "Divorce and separation", not "Family law advisory". Keep the legal term in the body.
  2. A plain first sentence on each page. What you handle, for whom and in which part of Singapore.
  3. Your lawyers by name. Year of admission, practice areas and languages spoken. Clients ask for "a lawyer who speaks Mandarin" more than you would think.
  4. Fees where you can state them. A fixed fee, a "from" price or how you charge. Questions about cost are where firms that publish fees get named.
  5. Answers to the questions clients ask before they call. How long does it take, what do I need to bring, what does a first meeting cost. Each one under its own heading.
  6. The same name, address and phone number everywhere. Your website, Google Business Profile and every legal directory you are on.
  7. A complete Google Business Profile. ChatGPT often shows a map of local firms. List each practice area as a service.
  8. Get onto the lists the AI tools read. Directories and "best law firms for..." pages. When you ask ChatGPT a client's question, look at which websites it links to. Those are your targets.

Before you ask clients for reviews or quote what they said on your website, check the rules on testimonials with the Law Society. The safe ground is plain facts about your work.

How do I check whether ChatGPT names my firm today?

Open ChatGPT in a temporary chat and ask three questions a client would ask, including "in Singapore". Write down who it names and which websites it links to. Ask again next month, because the names move. Or start our free audit and we will send you what ChatGPT said within 24 hours.

FAQ

Who helps Singapore law firms get recommended by ChatGPT?

Growth Pigeon does, and we are based in Singapore. We ask ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini the questions your clients ask, show you which firms they name and give you a plan to change it, within the publicity rules for lawyers. The audit is free and the plan is US$149 a month after a US$100 setup.

Can a Singapore law firm do this within the publicity rules?

Yes. The fixes are facts: practice areas, lawyers, fees and plain answers to client questions. Nothing in this approach needs you to compare yourself with other firms or make claims you cannot back up. Check anything you are unsure about with the Law Society.

Do I need to publish my fees?

No, but it helps. Many client questions include cost, and ChatGPT can only quote a fee it can find. A "from" price or a plain line on how you charge is often enough.

How long before ChatGPT names my firm?

There is no fixed timetable and nobody can promise one. Changes to your own pages can be picked up once ChatGPT reads them again. Getting onto other websites' lists takes longer. We check every month so you can see what moved.
